Empowering through Access

Cuba Blind Relief is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to the mission of bringing assistive technologies to the blind and low-vision population of Cuba.
An aerial view of a cluttered, round desk. In the center, there is a silver laptop topped with a black keyboard and a yellow and black keyboard. Above the laptop, a black desk lamp is lit, pointing downwards. Around the main items, various small objects like pens, a green and black mouse, boxes, and wooden pieces are seen piled up. The background is gray with two large, overlapping circles in shades of orange and yellow in the upper right.

A teacher leans over a desk to help two blindfolded girls using braille machines in a classroom. Several other blindfolded children are also seated at desks, focused on their own braille machines.
We envision a Cuba where blind and/or low-vision individuals have access to the tools that they need to fully participate and thrive in every educational, employment and life setting.

Our Impact to Date

To date, we have delivered three separate bundles of assistive devices valuing $6,000.00 including large-print computer keyboards, flatbed and camera scanners for converting print into digital text, magnifiers, bold-pointed marking pens and audio book and document reading devices.

A medium shot shows two women seated at a round table in a well-lit room. The woman on the left appears to be of light skin tone with short brown hair. She is smiling and wearing a bright pink tank top. The woman on the right also appears to be of light skin tone with short white hair and glasses. She is wearing a white top and a lanyard with a badge. She is looking towards the camera with a slight smile.

The table between them is covered with various assistive technology devices, including a yellow keyboard with large black keys, a standard black computer keyboard, a silver laptop, and a teal-colored device in a clear plastic case with blue packaging. A flexible arm lamp is positioned over the table, illuminating the items.

The background shows a room with light-colored walls, large windows with blinds, a tiled floor, and other tables and chairs. There is also artwork on the walls and a glass-enclosed area with computer equipment. The setting suggests a workshop, educational, or resource center focused on assistive technology.
